Hey everyone! I want to know if there are any risks or downsides to keeping my PC running non-stop. I mean, it seems convenient for things like remote access or downloading files without interruptions. But I don't want to accidentally mess up my PC's lifespan or performance.

Hey there! Leaving your PC on all the time is generally safe. Modern PCs are designed to handle continuous operations without significant issues, those components, like the CPU, GPU, and hard drive, are built to last.

That being said, there are a couple of factors you should keep in mind. One is heat. When your PC runs non-stop, it generates more heat, and if it doesn't have proper ventilation or cooling, it can cause problems. Overheating can lead to performance drops, instability, or even component damage. So make sure your PC has good airflow and give it a regular cleaning to prevent dust buildup.

Another thing to think about is power consumption. Leaving your PC on all the time means it's using electricity continuously. It might not make a huge difference to your energy bill, but hey, every penny counts, right? if you're concerned about excessive energy bills, you could try switching to a mini PC with lower power consumption.

Now, let's talk security. Leaving your PC unattended and connected to the internet for extended periods can increase the risk of unauthorized access, data breaches, or malware attacks. It's crucial to keep your antivirus software up to date, use strong passwords, and practice safe online habits to minimize these risks.

Lastly, don't forget about regular maintenance and updates. Keeping your operating system and software updated is vital for security patches, bug fixes, and overall system stability. You don't want to miss out on those important updates just because your PC is always on.

If you have any more questions or need further advice, feel free to ask. I'm here to help!

Hey Poison,
MIni PC can be a server, even if it is a low configuration minipc. But a low configuration machine cannot deploy a high consumption server because it will run slowly and have a bad experience. The minipc is fine as a storage share server.

If your pc is running 24/7, you should only monitor the CPU temperatures. It should not exceed the operating temperature. If your system has a fan, you should filter the air.
