Per the GEEKOM website, the Mini IT12 "has an M.2 2242 SATA SSD slot allowing for up to 1TB of storage expansion."

Does this expansion port also support the faster M.2 2242 NVMe PCIe SSD?

Does this expansion port support SSD's larger than 1 TB?

Thank you for posting in the forum. Here are the answer to your questions:

The M.2 2242 SATA SSD slot does not support M.2 2242 NVMe PCIe SSDs, nor can it support SSDs larger than 1T.

You are better off using a SATA SSD because using an oversized drive is like a small horse and buggy.

Since the processor only uses two-tenths of the hard drive's performance, it's not necessary.

Hi Colin, I've just purchased a Mini IT12 and had the same question. Have you sourced a suitable expansion drive yet ?
Cheers, Dave

I've purchased both a 2TB 2.5" SSD and a 1TB M.2 2242. I installed both today (easy to do), and so far they are working well. Here are links to the products that I bought.
2.5" SATA SSD: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GCKFZXS?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
M.2 2242 SATA SSD: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PPC7K79?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Hi Colin, thanks for your help. M2 drive is $79 in the US and £188 in the UK !!, but found an alternative, so all good. So far, very impressed with the Mini IT12, and thanks again for your help. Dave
